Description
Weathered marble seating and ancient stone walls rise in the historic amphitheater of Ephesus, the Greco-Roman city closely tied to the ministry of the Apostle Paul. The worn steps and curved tiers recall the public gathering place described in Acts, where a citywide uproar formed around the worship of Artemis and the impact of the gospel on Ephesian commerce and devotion. In Acts 19, the theater became the setting for civic confusion, religious conflict, and the visible tension between idolatry and the proclamation of Christ. This archaeological view connects biblical history with the physical remains of Asia Minor, making it useful for teaching on Paul’s missionary journeys, early church expansion, biblical archaeology, and the cultural world of the New Testament.
