A Child Is Born

Mary gathers close to the newborn Jesus, wrapped in swaddling cloths and resting in a humble manger. Around Him, Joseph and shepherds lean in with wonder, their staffs and simple garments placing the birth within the pastoral world of Bethlehem. The child at the center is small and vulnerable, yet every face and gesture directs attention to Him as the promised Savior.

The scene reflects Luke’s account of the Nativity, where the angel announces “good tidings of great joy” and the shepherds hurry to find the baby lying in a manger. It also echoes Isaiah’s prophecy, “For unto us a child is born,” presenting the mystery of the Incarnation: God’s salvation entering the world not in earthly splendor, but in humility, nearness, and grace.
